1. Normal weekly lawn diary applies until close of play on Saturday 28th October.  Only Lawns 3 – 5 are available but our normal ‘roll-up’ sessions continue.

2.  NO PLAY from 30th October to 6th November while the new clubhouse is built.

3.  The old clubhouse will be ‘put to bed’ on Monday 30th October; all private clothing and equipment to be removed by then please; the council tip threatens anything left which is not club property and required for use in the new clubhouse next season.

4.  From 6th November until the 1st January 2018 (inclusive!) Members are welcome to make individual arrangements to meet others at the OLD clubhouse and use Lawns 3 -5, but be aware that limited lawn maintenance will be undertaken and mowing will cease at the grounds man’s discretion some time in November.   Only request is that if more than one pre-arranged group is playing at the same time, you offer to  ‘mix-up’ at the end of a game.

No Play in 2018 [after 1st Jan] until the official reopening of the next season [Probably mid April TBC]

1.   Lawns 1 & 2 are ‘out of use’ for refurbishment and will not be available before 1 April 2018.

2.  Association Croquet coaching is suspended until next season and John Cosier, our AC coach, hopes that we may restart next spring with new vigour on a better lawn.   Meanwhile John is happy for anyone to contact him should you want some coaching before the official re-launch.

2.   During Football League Matches [normally limited to weekend afternoons] we have agreed NO CARS MAY ENTER/DEPART the car park and pass behind the goal during match play.   This will normally result in the Green Gate being locked closed from 3 to 3.45 and again from 4 to 4.45.

At its July meeting your Committee took the final decision to authorise the build of our new clubhouse.   The decision was made easier by the generosity of a small number of members who were able to make new or additional donations to the development fund.

We have the funding to buy, erect and fit out the new clubhouse (on the current shed site).  We expect final building regulations approval in August and work to commence in October. We will be able to connect to mains water and have a septic tank toilet system.   However we do not have sufficient funds to install mains electricity though a conduit will be placed within the water pipe trench to facilitate electricity supply in the future.

We have received complaints about cars parking by the green gates, thus forcing oncoming traffic into the ‘right turn’ chevron area.   If parked while opening or closing the green gates please put your hazard lights on.  Do not queue behind other vehicles while waiting for the gates to be opened; if necessary drive away and return a few minutes later. This is important since further complaints could lead the Highway Authority to question our continued use of the Green Gates and thus ability to park at the lawns.  Ideally, enter from the Sportsman roundabout direction when arriving since this would be safer and would avoid crossing the chevrons.

The Club Bank Accounts are now ‘on-line’ and the option to make payments to, and receive payments from, the Treasurer via BACS electronic transfer is available.  This method is strongly encouraged to save time and effort for the Treasurer.  Bank details will not be sent out electronically but can be obtained by ringing any committee member.  Once first set-up on your own system, further payments are simple, fast and secure.

However:- It is essential that you use the electronic money transfer ’Reference’ box to identify your payment; use your surname and a single word clue as to what the payment is for.  So the Chairman paying for his Quiz Night ticket would use the Reference ‘SHERWIN QUIZ’.    Simple – but if you don’t use a meaningful reference we get the money but you fail to get the credit!

Emergency Service SatNav takes them to the main gate so there is no requirement to practice opening the Green Gate height barrier.  The Main Gate security has been enhanced by providing shielded padlock arrangements, similar to the Green Gate.

The numbers to open these gates are displayed in the clubhouse outside the toilet door.

So, if unlucky enough to call an ambulance to the lawns, as a matter of priority a member MUST go to the Main Gate and unlock it. The crew will have to help push it open unless we can send over a strong team.  If there is a spare person available send them to our Green Gate to redirect the ambulance in the unlikely event that it turns up at the Berry Lane Gate.  The Priority must be to unlock the Main Sportsfield Gate.
