[Updated on 10 July]
The new clubhouse is built and it looks magnificent in its new coat of ‘LCQC Green’. Heavy duty floor covering is in place and a new kitchen is installed. Robyn Clark will be asking for volunteers to apply a second coat of paint; please help if you can. The water pipe to Berry Lane is complete and the septic tank facility is well advanced.
Internal plumbing has to be commissioned but we are very hopeful that we will be fully installed in our new home in time for the Centenary Cup on 29th July.
Therefore the old clubhouse is still in use. The Gas system will remain in the old clubhouse until shortly before we move into the new, allowing tea/coffee facilities to be retained for all but a week or so.
We plan to hold an informal ‘Members Opening Event’ when we move in but there will still be work ‘in-hand’, for example installing the solar panels and low voltage electrical system, mallet racks and generally making ourselves ‘at-home’. Therefore an Official ‘Grand Opening’ is planned for the beginning of the 2019 season.
We are required by Arun District Council to demolish our old clubhouse within a specific period following occupation of the new building. Therefore, please note, it will NOT be possible to use both; we will not occupy the new until it is fully functional. While it was disappointing not to be able to open 2018 in a super new clubhouse, we need to accept short-term pain for what we hope will be long-term gain
